Frequently Asked Questions

Encaustic

Encaustic is a fine art medium made from filtered beeswax, damar resin and pigment. From ancient cultures to modern art, encaustic has a vast history that I share more about in this post.

This waxy fine art medium is durable and naturally archival. In this post, I share how to care for your encaustic art.

Purchasing Art

I create paintings in cohesive collections released here on my website several times a year. Those who join my Collectors Circle receive first access to preview and purchase before shared on social media and my blog. Originals tend to go quickly, so be prompt if you discover a piece you love!

Absolutely! I’m thrilled to create a custom piece of art that captures the visual beauty and tactile sensuality of the encaustic process. Head over to my commission process page to learn more and get started. Since I offer a limited number of commissions per year, it’s best to reserve your piece early.

To honor the unique beauty and sensory experience (in both touch and subtle scent of beeswax) that encaustic offers, I do not offer reproductions. I release original collections throughout the year in various sizes to meet a range of price points.

Framing is recommended for original paintings on flat wood panels. Frames are available to purchase on the website or you can use your own frame. Paintings purchased with a frame on this site will come to you set, wired and ready to hang!

With proper care, encaustic is durable and does not need to be framed under glass. The corners of a painting are most prone to damage. Using a floater frame is an elegant way to display your encaustic work while keeping corners protected.

Shipping & Returns

Please allow 3-4 weeks for your encaustic painting to be shipped from your order date. All artwork is packaged with care using wax paper and sturdy cardboard box. Artwork is typically shipped on a Monday or Tuesday using 2 or 3 day delivery service (United States only) in an effort to limit transit time of your encaustic painting.

At this time, I only ship to the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Flat rate shipping is $25 to the U.S for 2 or 3 day delivery. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout.

NOTE: Due to the global pandemic, many shipping providers have suspended the guarantee of when deliveries should arrive. While this is beyond the studio's control, you will receive tracking once your painting has shipped from the studio.

You can read through our complete shipping policy here.

At this time, I have paused in person pick up from my studio. I'll share updates when this changes.

Every piece of artwork, commission and products are represented with as much transparency and care as possible.

All sales are final sale, a few situations maybe an exception and a 20% restocking fee will be applied. Please contact me directly at info@chanellerene.com if you have any questions about your order and we'll work together to work out any issues.
