Grant Street Beach

Grant Street Beach

'Grant Street Beach' is focused on the segregated beach of Cape May, New Jersey and highlights the everyday joys of African-American beach goers from the 1920s through 1960s. I use my own family photographs as well as other Black families as references for the works. The series celebrates generations of Black beach goers as they transitioned from segregation to making Grant Street Beach a tradition of choice. Combining bold abstract color with black and white, allows the past to speak into the future.
