Chanelle René is an award-winning contemporary painter and mural artist based in Southern New Jersey. Her figurative work explores identity through the lens of culture, self essence, and (re)claiming spaces. Working in PR/marketing for the past 20 years, Chanelle picked up painting during the pandemic pause of 2020. Chanelle’s work starts with a color story and intuitive abstract under paintings. This process allows her to express raw emotion through gesture and mark making then later consider the composition of the figurative subject that will best serve the piece. From canvas work to large-scale murals, Chanelle’s work uses a mix of acrylic and oil paint, spray paint, texture marker, metal leaf and color pencil. A self-taught artist, her work embodies endless possibilities believing that anyone can ’Shine Your Vibe’ at any stage of life.
Chanelle has collaborated with several museums, educational and community outreach programs such as: Arts Council of Princeton, Cape May MAC, Noyes Museum, WheatonArts, AtlantiCare, City of Atlantic City, Mighty Writers, Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibition, Atlantic City Arts Foundation, Atlantic Cape Community College
